- provide dance expertise, information and networking
- provide a brokerage service for artists, education establishments and community groups
- manage programmes for talent and professional development
- create projects for those who have formerly been excluded, eg. those with disabilities or disadvantaged young people
- co-ordinate festivals and events
- co-promote and commission dance for theatres and unusual spaces
- work in partnership with arts and non-arts organisations, charities, agencies and statutory bodies
