Dance South Gloucestershire (DSG) is a partnership between South Gloucestershire Council and Gloucestershire Dance with a strong commitment and desire to increase quality dance provision within South Gloucestershire.
DSG Vision
- DSG aims to provide high quality dance opportunities to extend and develop dance in and beyond South Gloucestershire
- Broaden the vision that dance is accessible to everyone. Every body can move, therefore every body can dance
- DSG aims to create needs led projects that focus on barriers that effect participation in dance such as; rural isolation, low self esteem, experience and those that live in a pocket of severe deprivation
- Make dance accessible to all by providing dance opportunities for every body regardless of age, experience, ethnicity or religion
- To create opportunities for people to extend and develop their talents, abilities and experience
- DSG values itspartnerships with nearby Dance Agencies, Local Authorities and a variety of other arts providers that will enable it to provide a diverse range of dance opportunities
DSG aims to achieve the above by:
- Creating quality dance opportunities for older people in order to raise awareness of the benefits of an active lifestyle
- Providing CPD opportunities for both dance artists and teachers such as residencies with professional dance companies and INSET days
- Providing support and advice for local dance artists and organisations
- Identifying and developing local up and coming dance leaders in order to sustain facilitation for dance activities within the area
- Co-ordinating projects that will raise the profile of dance within South Gloucestershire such as a youth dance company, a boy's only project and residencies within youth settings with professional dance companies
