Choreographer Balbir Singh is offering 12 dancers a unique opportunity to participate in a week long, creative residency at the Lawrence Batley Theatre, Huddersfield where his company (Diversity Dance) is based. During the week dancers will work with live music and undertake 1 to 1 Kathak training with Balbir Singh himself.
Diversity Dance has become one of the newly appointed RFO organisations with Arts Council England this year and as a result the company is starting the process of looking for suitable dancers who may join this exciting middle scale dance company from summer 2009 and then for UK touring during Autumn 2009.
The week will include, daily contemporary class, daily Kathak class, creative movement exploration, traditional Indian musical training and you will also get to learn some of the company’s rep from 2007.

There will be further residencies in Leeds in October and then in London in March 2009.
Dancers wishing to apply to take part in the residency will need to have had at least 3yrs professional training in contemporary dance.
No previous Kathak experience is necessary but Kathak experience based artists are welcome to apply

The residency will take place from Monday 4th August to Friday 8th August from 10:00am – 6:00pm each day. Please do not apply unless you can commit to the whole week.
