Fresh is a new programme of work designed to identify and nurture talent in the South West. This will involve creating opportunities for dance students to have more creative preparation before they attend college and a programme of mentoring and support for students once they have graduated.  A scheme is currently being developed for graduates and will include a year of mentoring, work- based placements and performance opportunities. Dance South West are striving to provide clear progression routes for young people in the South West who want a career in dance, from engaging through the youth dance programme, developing the Centre for Advanced Training in partnership with Swindon Dance, to the mentoring scheme and the G.A.P programme.

Graduate Apprentice Passport

Dance South West has launched G.A.P - the Graduate Apprentice Passport. This scheme is open to anyone from the south west who has graduated in dance in the last five to support a work based placement. To download further information on how to apply please click here.

Graduate Training Company

Last year we piloted a Graduate Training Company with Attik Dance in Plymouth. Fast Forward Dance is a company of 6 exciting new graduates from the South West and beyond focused on creating fresh choreography and fun, inspiring education packages. The company provided the graduates with the opportunity and experiences to help bridgethe gap between student and dance artist.

Upclose

As part of the small scale tour we extened artistic development opportunity to two recent graduates to be part of the tour. We advertised nationally and received 36 applications, we auditioned 16 and appointed 2. One apprentice started contemporary dance as a member of Gloucestershire Youth Dance Company, she then went on to be an associate with Diversions and had just completed 3 years of training at Northern School of Contemporary Dance for a BPA in contemporary dance.
