Unlocked is a series of creative projects based in and around Trust properties from Cornwall to Wiltshire that make it possible for communities, groups and schools in the South West to be able to engage with Trust properties in a range of creative interpretations and celebratory events inspired by the sites.
Unlocked is based on a strong and tested set of values and working principles that are set out in this document. In each county, small groups of cultural organizations led by Dance South West with the network of dance and arts education agencies are working together with National Trust properties and staff to develop extraordinary participatory projects.
These bring together young people, schools and community groups with artists, historians, scientists and other creative practitioners. The outcomes of these relationships will be celebratory events of varying scales incorporating performance, exhibition, films, guided walks and even parties. Each process is designed to maximise the understanding and learning between participant groups, individuals and the Trust.
This proposal takes its cues from a recent body of creative interpretation in Cornwall with National Trust and also “The Untold Story”, a recent national interpretation project. A unique characteristic of Unlocked is the capacity of each partnership group to pool their collective resources based on shared interests and achieve more by working together.
